I think I need to get fit. I used to be naïve, and think that because I ate healthily and my BMI was oddly low, I was considered “healthy”. Although I probably am considered healthy, I do believe I need to fit a lot more exercise into my schedule. The thing is, I don’t look almost as underweight as my BMI seems to suggest. Personally, I think some parts of me seem a bit “flabby”; in particular, my legs and abdomen. I believe the reason for this, is that there isn’t really any developed muscle due to my lack of exercise.
I do often walk instead of catching the tram if it’s a tolerable distance, but it’s nothing rigorous. Further, I’ve even walked all the way from home to university (about 50-60 minutes walking), although my shoulders ended up being quite painful due to the books in my bag, and this activity was not repeated.
Anyway, the point of this blog post is to mention that my habits shall be changing! I definitely have the time1, and at present I have the motivation. I was reading some journal articles for uni recently which found that (or something like this, anyway) exercise plans that involve one’s social network are the most effective. It makes sense, too; maybe I should force someone to take long walks or whatever with me.
If all goes to plan, this will not be the last post I write about this, and photo posts may be forthcoming if/when I find an interesting walking route.
- It’s only going to take perhaps five hours a week, which I do have available to spare. I do spend at least five hours too many staring at this screen per week, after all. [↩]
