BeanBoozled

Yeah, I haven’t blogged in quite a while! I don’t have much of a life at the moment. What with leaving all my work until the last minute, my busy weeks, and the fact that all I want to do is sleep, I haven’t been around as much as usual. However! My busy weeks at work are subsiding, and I finish exams and assessments early next week, so all will be right in the world very soon. Now, onto tonight’s entry!

BeanBoozled packet

That right there? That’s a packet of BeanBoozled jelly beans. When a co-worker brought them into work, I thought they seemed very cool. Not as cool as Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans would be, of course (although Wikipedia tells me that Jelly Belly have their own product with the same name), but they work like this:

  • Purple can be plum or black pepper
  • Green can be juicy pear or booger
  • Yellow can be popcorn or mouldy cheese
  • Orange can be peach or vomit

Et cetera. Sounds pretty fun, right? Well, I thought so at first. I often got the “bad” flavours, but they usually at least semi-palatable. Pepper is fine, and booger tasted like grass in lolly form, but then I got a rotten egg flavoured bean. Which made me dry retch. I was this close to vomiting at work. And then I dared try another yellow bean, and almost threw up again.

They seem cool at first, but I’m scared of them now, and I’ll never look at jelly beans the same way again. When did eating jelly beans become a game of Russian roulette?

Personally, I don’t really see the attraction of bad-flavoured lollies (especially when they’re indistinguishable from the good ones)! I mean, I can be amused my the novelty value of them… but I’d never eat them because I’d be terrified of getting the bad flavours. And you haven’t reduced this terror at all. xD

My husband and I used to buy Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans and we’d get together with a bunch of our friends. We’d all grab one and eat them at the same time. It was funny to see who got the nasty ones. We had brown bags in case we barfed. And some of us did, actually lol. Rotten egg is nasty.

I admire your courage. No way am I popping anything that could potentially taste like vomit or moldy cheese into my mouth. D: Add that to my general dislike for jellybeans, and you wouldn’t be able to get me to touch those with a ten-foot pole.

I’ve always wanted to dare someone to eat them (because it’d be amusing for me when they reach a gross flavor) but no one has taken me up on it. :P This reminds me that there’s a Japanese restaurant in Sydney that actually has sushi roulette — one of the pieces of sushi on the plate has an extra large dose of wasabi in it — I didn’t get it, but the person who did get it was a spoil sport and spat it back out!

Oh, I’ve never heard of those kinds of jelly beans before. They sound pretty cool, although I’m not sure I have the courage to take such risk. :P My most hated jelly bean flavor is coconut. THAT almost makes me puke.

Hmmm. I’m not sure if I would try them or not. I’m half and half with jelly beans, so I guess you’d have to catch me on a good day where I like them :P

Can’t say I share the same enthusiasm with jelly beans, haha. But the packaging on that looks very cool though! I’d buy it, and then… give it away. The only time I’ve ever eaten j-beans is after having a vaccination and that is all the doctor has to offer, lmao.

I’m guessing by now exams and assessments are done! So congratulations! :)

OMGS I love that brand of beans! I haven’t tried that particular type of ‘em though.

I would love the novilty of those, but I hate spending money on things I won’t enjoy to it’s full extent. So.. I’ll only ever try them if 1) Someone else had ‘em 2) I was drunk and had cash on me. I don’t drink, nor do I know a lot of people. haha.
